IMPHAL, July 12: The Naga People`s Organisation (NPO) has asked the state government to settle the June 21 hijacking case without further delay.

A mini truck driver and his helper from Nagaland were drugged by four persons from Manipur on June 21 before the mini truck was taken away by the four miscreants.

According to a release, the NPO said in the wake of unresolved incident of June 21 and subsequent bandh/blockade imposed by the Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) along the NH-2, the NPO demands the state government to immediately resolve the matter without delay. “The unfortunate and inhuman way of drugging and executing criminal act in broad day light in Senapati District is condemnable by all sections of community. Here, the long delay of the Manipur Government and concerned authorities to keep pending the 21st June incident has resulted the reaction of the SAYO. Reacting and out bursting in the ongoing Manipur Assembly by certain MLAs without efforts/suggestions to resolve the matter has not resulted any positive outcome but to create public incontinences along the NH-2. The NPO while extending solidarity to those victims and SAYO, it appeals for early settlement of the issue,” the NPO stated.

The NPO then said it wishes to extend appreciation and laud the contribution and performance of the present Superintendent of Police Pushpanjali, IPS in recent months. “Since her posting in the District, many criminal acts has been busted and cracked under her administration. Cracking the rape case of a minor girl, Rescue of 2 abducted women, rescuing tractor drivers, rescuing of minor boys from human trafficking and improvement of law and order situation in the District has been some important  history of her administration. The regular seized and destruction of DIC liquors in the presence of the public and night vigil maintain regularly by her police team and the officers is commendable. Such steps to initiate public security and prevent trafficking of drugs related items have benefited the younger generation and the people of the district,” the NPO claimed.

“While extending co-operation and collaborative initiatives to collectively curb anti-social elements in the District, the NPO also appeal the Deputy Commissioner and SP Pushpanjali, IPS to intervene into the present impasse of SAYO and Manipur Government to settle the matter at the earliest,” the NPO stated.
