Many more condole Nipamacha`s demise

IMPHAL, July 18: Several organizations including political parties have sent in their separate condolence messages on the demise of former Chief Minister of the state Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh.

The Manipur State Congress Party, in a release, said that the party deeply condoles on the sudden demise of Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh, former chief minister and key founder of Manipur State Congress Party.

“Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh was instrumental in the creation and establishment of Manipur State Congress Party in 1997. He was against social & political discrimination and central political over lording. He attempted to regain the traditional value of the state, keeping the diversity in total harmony of peaceful co-existence”. 

“The party shall always consider him as its Key Founder and shall share in the sorrow and grief with his family”, it added.   

The Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress also observed a two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed leader at an emergency meeting held today at its party office, the statement said.

“With his death Manipur had lost a dynamic leader, noted politician and dedicated worker for the society. The void created in his absence will be hard to mend in the near future,” said MPTC release.

Shiv Sena Manipur State, in a separate release, said that “it was with deep regret that the party learnt about the passing away of two time former chief minister of the state Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh on July 17.”

Meanwhile, various organizations in the state convened meetings to condole the demise of the former CM. The State Level Gaan Ngai Celebration Committee Manipur; Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyelpat; All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturer’s Welfare Association and The Manipur State Pensioners’ Union convened condolence meetings at their respective offices.

“Having concern of the Kabui/Zeliangrong Tribe of the state and the composite culture of Gaan Ngai, during his regimes, he was instrumental in making the yearly Gaan Ngai Celebration a public holiday in Manipur and thereafter every year,” said a release of the committee.

“The staff of IBSD remembered the important role he played in establishment of IBSD at Imphal during his tenure as CM of the state. He was the first vice-president of IBSD Society”, said a release of IBSD.
