IMPHAL, Aug 5: The Trinamool Youth Congress, Manipur organized a one day political conference at the residence of the Oinam MLA Dr I Ibohalbi today.
A youth forum of the political party at Oinam with 17 members was formed during the conference.
The conference was attended by local MLA I Ibohalbi, president of the state youth front, Premananda, general secretary of the state youth front, Th Bishwanath, vice president state youth front, Benjamin Mate as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the conference, the local MLA said that after the formation of the Manipur Trinamool Youth Congress on July 28, the political party decided to further expand its youth front by opening constituency level units in the state.
He continued that Oinam constituency was decided where the first unit was to be set up.
The objective for the formation of the youth front is to expand and strengthen the party in the state.
He said the party wants to deliver the people from the present situation faced under the rule of the present Congress government.
The Opposition leader also reiterated that after attending the state Assembly as the Opposition leader, there have been several revelations. He said by the start of this year, the state has a Rs 60 crore overdraft.
He continued that the state government has another Rs 50 crore taken as loan from the central government.
Out of the Rs 3500 crore state Plan for this year, above a Rs 100 crores will be spent in repaying these, he added.
He further charged the state government of neglecting the development of the state.
The Ministers and the government officials wait just for the central fundings; but never work for the welfare of the people of the state.
The future of the state is not stable at the moment, the Oinam MLA said.
The MLA while expressing his concern over the influx of non-locals in the state in large numbers said that there is no denying the fact that the recent ethnic conflict could be witnessed in the state in the near future.
He continued that the main bazars of the state Paona and Thangal bazar are completely dominated by non-locals and they have also started populating in large numbers at several other places of the state including the Sadar Hills, Senapati, Jiribam and Moreh.
He added that the government has failed to acknowledge the danger on the issue and to take up any concrete measures to check the large scale influx of the outsiders into the state.
He further expressed his desire for all MLA’s to turn their interest for the welfare of the state instead of just concentrating on their respective constituencies.
