IMPHAL, Sep 18: A sub-PHC at Awang Khunou has been formally inaugurated today by state Health minister Ph Parijat at the office of the Awang Khunou Youth Development Association at Awang Khunou.
Speaking at the inauguration function, Parijat appealed to the staffs of the newly opened PHSC to work sincerely and serve the local people. He also appealed to the local people to safeguard the PHSC and help medical staffs in delivering services to the people.
Today’s inaugural function was also attended by Lamshang MLA W Brajabidhu and Dr. Surchandra Sharma, additional director, Health.
The newly opened PHSC has one ANM nurse, one nurse, one pharmacist, one MNA, one Grade IV and two ASHA volunteers. The PHSC will provide medical assistance to about 2500 people residing at Awang Khunou and its surrounding areas.
Another long awaited Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Kasom Khullem will finally be inaugurated on October 1 by the Health Minister, Parijat Singh. As per a release from the Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association (KKSDDA), the decision to inaugurate the PHC building which is a 10 bedded and staff quarter on October 1 was made on September 17 at the Ministers office.
The Minister further assured the representatives of KKSDDA for the posting of one M.O (Allopathic) since no allopathic doctor is posted in the Kasom Khullem PHC. The release further stated that the Minister entrusted the KKSDDA to take more initiative of its PHC inauguration and other works and ensured that the equipments /materials will be installed at least four days ahead of its inauguration program.
It may be worth mentioning that the PHC building has been completed and ready since the year 2003 and the people of Kasom Khullen have been demanding to inaugurate the building and installation of its required staff, equipments etc.
