IMPHAL, Aug 19: The women wing of CPI All Manipur Nupi Marup today concern on the fallout of the Manipuri exodus from various metropolitan cities.
This was mentioned during a press conference by leaders of the All Manipur Nupi Marup at Imphal today.
S. Sarojini, President of All Manipur Nupi Marup gave a brief report on the recent 19th National Federation of Indian Women conference held in Chennai.
The issues of crime against women and children as well as trafficking, issues of health, social oppression and atrocities against women, right to food was discussed in the said conference.
M. Sakhi Devi, Vice President of the organization said that during the conference there was much support for Manipur people’s agitation against AFSPA and that it will support to the efforts made by the people to make the government give into the plight of the people for repealing of AFSPA.
The All Manipur Nupi Marup also stated in the conference in regard to the NE students and professional fleeing back home because of fear for their lives, that the people from Manipur coming back home are facing problems entering because of the ongoing bandh and that it has appealed for its removal.
Citing this recent exodus of NE people, the organization also regrets to see the disintegration of NE especially Manipur when people from the cities are fleeing back home and cannot even go back home peacefully once reaching NE.
The organization also condemns the use of National Highway as a tool for agitation as it hampers the lives of many people and creates chaos and this trend should stop immediately.
