Manipur,IMPHAL, Aug 25: The Joint Action Committee on Inner Line Permit today pressurised the state government to intimate to the Centre the recent cabinet decision on ILP by August 31.

Speaking at a press conference this noon on the issue, convenor Sapamcha Jadumani said that the committee will take up several forms of agitations in case the state government fails to intimate the Centre about the recent cabinet decision regarding implementation of the ILP in the state as had been assured by the state government earlier.

He said that the state government and the state Assembly had resolved that all political parties of the state including both ruling and opposition parties to coerce the Centre for immediate implementation of the ILP in the state. However, the government is yet to take up any initiative on the issue.

He further decried that Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ramachandran’s reply in the Parliament that the Centre has no plans to accede to the demand for the ILP system in a new state in the North East, other than the three where it is presently applicable to a question by West Bengal MP, Kumar Deepak Das is in direct opposition of the World Indigenous Day observed by the UN on August 9.

He concluded that the committee supports the September 6 NE wide general strike of the NESO and that committee representatives will participate in the September 6 rally at Guwahati against the present exodus of NE students and professionals from several south Indian cities.
