IMPHAL, Aug 26: A 64 year old was injured today when a police personnel of the Churachandpur Police fired from his service rifle during a reception ceremony of London Olympics Bronze medal winner MC Mary Kom organized by the district administration at the Churachandpur Public ground.
The incident happened at around 3:50pm.
The injured person has been identified as Dougjapao, 64 of Mualveng village, CCpur, while the constable is identified as Nangkhansuan son of Tuanggin of the same village.
It is learnt that the injured has been shifted to the Churachandpur District Hospital, while the police constable involved has been taken into police custody.
