JIRIBAM, September 1: The checking for illegal immigrants in the state was also continued today at Jiribam Sub Division today.
Checking was conducted at the Foreigner Check Post, Jiribam under OC CID (SB) Md Tajuddin Khan and OC Foreigner Check Post, Jiribam Y Muhindro Singh.
During the check non locals coming in from Assam side were checked and asked to identify themselves as Indian citizens by producing proper identifications.
Around 60 individuals who were unable to produce any valid identification were made to return back.
Md Tajuddin Khan said that as usual foreigner checking was also conducted today.
He said there had been several foreigners entering the state with legal papers from the Jiribam side.
Since January this year upto August this year there were around 29 foreigners entering the state from the Jiribam side.
Most of the foreigners were from Bangladesh, USA, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Finland, Austria, Hungary, UK, France, Holland, Netherland, Australia, Belgium, Spain and Israel.
