IMPHAL, September 2: HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles celebrated its 66th Raising Day on September 1. The raising day celebrations were preceded with a wakeful events like pipe band display on August 27, run for peace on August 29, inauguration of class room at Utlou High School, Utlou. Three day celebrations kicked off on August 31 with MEENA BAZAR and PAGAL GYMKHANA.
The grand day September 1 was speckled with events. Religious gathering to invoke blessings of the almighty followed by flag hoisting ceremony. Brigadier Navneet Kumar, commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles conveyed his best wishes to all ranks and civilian staff appreciating their efforts towards bringing peace and tranquility in the state . He also gave away coveted 9 Sector Medal of appreciation to the Independence Day Gallantry award winners and outstanding all ranks. A Barakhana was organised on September 2, 2012. Dignitaries from civil administration and police attended the function. Participation of ex-servicemen from all parts of Manipur and shared their inspiring experiences and nostalgic memories, a release said.
