Gang rape accused chargesheeted

IMPHAL, September 4: The accused four including two uniform personnel from Indian Reserve Battalion, IRB involved in the gang rape of a 40 year old mother of four children were brought and produced before the court today.

However the chargesheet hearing of the case will be conducted on September 17 following a request made by the counsel representing the accused.

The lady victim, Jangthailee Kamei, wife of Ngamsuaklung Kamei was reportedly gang-raped by the four accused earlier on March 22 last at around 2am before dawn.

She was reportedly raped at gun point.

All four accused were produced before a Session judge/Manipur west at Uripok Cheirap court complex today.

Bishnupur district police registered a case, FIR No 32 (3) 2012 BPR PS o/s 326/384/376/511/341 IP and 25 (I-C) Arms Act and the rape accused are currently jailed at Sajiwa Central jail.

The four accused includes havildar Chungkham Ibomcha alias Eigya, 37, son of Ch Shamu of Tnhgju Boroi Makhong bearing the no 11C2007855 of 1st IRB and his fellow IRB having rifleman no 0920001242, Kshetrimayum Kenedy, 37, son of Ksh Achou of Kongpal Chanam Leikai, Laikhuram Rojit, 25, son of L Tomba of Porompat JNIMS road, opposite 3rd gate and Salam Bijen, 34, son of S Gourabidhu of Uripok Sorbon Thingel.

Representatives of the Joint Action Committee Against the inhuman Gang Rape of Jangthailee Kamei were also present at the court today.

It maybe recalled, that the gang rape victim Jangthailee is a trader (king-chilly) from Longlei (Nongleiband) village in Tamenglong sub division under Nungba police station.
