IMPHAL, September 4: The drive launched by the state authority since August 30 to identify and arrest illegal migrants continued today with a massive operation conducted at Serou part III in Thoubal district.
A total of 400 non-Manipuris were rounded up and kept for further verification inside the Serou high school and later 9 (nine) non Manipuri s without any papers were identified and arrested.
A case has been registered under the Foreigners Act and the nine are currently lodged in the custody of Sugnu Police station.
The drive launched under the directives of the state Home Minister, Gaikhangam will continue in other parts, sources said.
In another similar drive to identify illegal migrants, a total of 104 non Manipuri were screened by the authority and district police at Ukhrul.
