IMPHAL, September 11: The Manipur Police constable who was accidentally shot by a Sub Inspector inside the City Police station on September 5 morning succumbed to injuries this morning around 6:40am at the Shija Hospital.
The concerned Sub Inspector identified as AK Dilip of Thoubal has been suspended from service.
The victim constable had been identified as Chabungbam Iboyaima, 33, son of (L) Lilashing of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai. He was shot on the right side of his neck.
The City police had taken up a case on this regard
SI Dilip was arrested yesterday and produced before the court. He has been remanded to police custody till September 14.
The dead body has been handed over to family members after post mortem was conducted at the RIMS morgue.
Meanwhile, an Imphal East Commando was hurt late last night when locals threw stone at a commando team conducting a raid at Kairang, Imphal East.
The commando identified as Nongthonbam Jeetu, 29 son of (L) Yaima of Ningom Thongjao has been admitted at the Shija Hospital with serious head injuries.
