Yamthong smokes peace pipe

SAIKUL, Oct 3 (NNN): Yamthong Haokip today smoked the communal harmony pipe at Leikoiching village in Senapati district. The Saikul constituency MLA advocated that it is a high time to live in unity and strive to do away any factor that comes in a away of peace and unity. Yamthong Haokip also stated that without harmony development that comes will not be able to be enjoyed by the people. The legislator further said that everyone has the responsibility to contribute in his or her own way to build harmony.

The Saikul constituency was speaking was on Wednesday during the felicitation programme organised for him by the Saikul Area Naga People`s Organisation (SANPO) at Leikoiching village under Sadar Hills, Senapati district.

Yamthong Haokip assured the people that he will try his best to uplift the people living in Saikul constituency and take up necessary developmental works with utmost sincerity. “No stone will be unturned in my effort to bring development in every corner of Saikul constituency,” promised Yamthong Haokip, while adding with a plea, “Please do extend your valuable co-operation to me and let us join hands in uplifting this constituency.”

He admitted nothing can be done without the support of the general public and further asked the people not to create any sort of communal tension.

“It is high time that we unite together and live in harmony and embrace our neighbours with love”, Haokip said.

Yamthong also assured that the Saikul constituency will surely see some changes and developments soon and acknowledged the fact that development in a constituency emerges out of the efforts of the concerned MLA or the minister.Yamthong Haokip then thanked the people for having had chosen him to represent the constituency. “I will never let you down,” said Haokip.

On the occasion, Principal Secretary, government of Manipur Ram Muivah, Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman of Autonomous District Council (ADC), Sadar Hills, all its members, village chiefs and other government officials also attended the programme at Leikoiching.

Meanwhile, cultural items marked the felicitation programme with numerous dances and songs presented for the MLA.

Noted folk singer Guru Reuben Mashangva enthralled the gathering with his old and latest songs.

Different cultural dances were also presented by various troupes on the occasion.
