IMPHAL, October 15: Md Allauddin Khan, former Minister of RD & PR, MOBC and Science & Technology, died of cancer today at around 5 pm at Dharamsala Cancer Hospital in Delhi.
He is survived by his wife, Sufura Begum, four sons and two daughters. His death body will be brought to Imphal on an Indian Airlines Flight tomorrow at 7:40 pm. And his last rites will be performed at his birth place at Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai.
Md Allauddin Khan, 53, was elected to the 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly on INC ticket in the year 2002 and held the portfolio as Minister of RD & PR, MOBC. He was re-elected to the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly on INC ticket and again held the portfolio as Minister of RD & PR, MOBC and Science & Technology in the year 2007.
He was also the former vice-president of AMSU and AMSCOC, ex-editor of Fidam and was presently serving as the chairman of WKAF board.
The newly appointed Parliamentary Secretary of MOBC & SC/Sc & Tech, Md Amin Shah, in his condolence massage, said that his death is a huge loss not only for the Muslim community but for the whole state. “The works he had done for the welfare of Muslim community will always be remembered.”
Meanwhile, the MPCC President and state Home Minister Gaikhangam and Inner Manipur MP Dr T Meinya has condoled the death of the Muslim leader.
