IMPHAL, Nov 23: With an object to include the topics of art and culture in the academic curriculum, a five-day training programmes for selected govt. school teachers was initiated today at the auditorium of Manipur Public School, Koirengei.
The said training program was organised by Department of Education (S) in collaboration with Centre for cultural research and Training (CCRT), New Delhi which is under the ministry of culture.
The opening function the training programme was attended by Youth Affairs and Sports, Secretary and Education Director, S. Dilip; Joint Director and state Nodal Director of CCRT, Th Iboyaima; and Art and Cuture Director, K Sobita as chief guest, president and guest of honour.
Speaking at the opening function, nodal director of CCRT, Th Iboyaima have stated that it will be a great assets for school students to learn about their indigenous art and culture under the academic curriculum. He further stressed that such studies are very crucial for students that why the initiatives are also taken by CCRT to include in the academic curriculum.
He further maintained that it would be quite opportune for state like Manipur, which has its own cultural heritage, to include such arts and cultural studies in school syllabus.
He furthermore said that as a part of initiative take by CCRT, they are also trying to provide cultural talents scholarship to the state students. He then added that the education department (S) has also notified them to submit a list of cultural talent to award scholarship before 31 December.
