Police crack plan to hold RPF raising day, woman cadre held

IMPHAL, Sep 22: The Imphal West district police commandos have foiled the attempted preparations to organize the 32nd Raising Day of the proscribed RPF by the Meira Paibis of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai following the arrest of the Secretary of the Women’s Wing of the outfit on September 19 evening.
According to an official source, a team of Imphal West district police commandos under the supervision of ASP (Ops), Imphal West district acted on specific information about the presence of some women cadres of the underground RPF/PLA in Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai who were soliciting the public and Meira Paibis to organize the forthcoming 32nd Raising Day of the RPF on September 25 this year and also collecting information about the resident non-locals in Imphal area. The police commandos conducted a massive search operation in the locality on September 19 evening.

The official source further said that during the operation one woman who was trying to sneak out from the cordoned area was detained at the gate of one Laishram Babumacha of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai. On verification she identified herself as S/S Lt. RK Rina alias Ningol alias Tombi, 43, daughter of RK Sanatomba Singh of Sagolband Mabhudhou Mantri Leikai. She belongs to the underground RPF/PLA.

The official source further mentioned that she disclosed to the police during interrogation that she had joined the outfit through one Rabi in the year 1995 and got basic military training at Mamangching in the year 1996, and was promoted to MC No 133 Lieutenant in the year 2008 and posted at Manipur as Secretary, Women’s Wing of RPF.

The official source also mentioned that the arrested woman cadre of the RPF/PLA was involved in recruitment of several new cadres to the organisation and was reportedly entrusted to organize the ensuing 32nd Raising Day of RPF/PLA on September 25.

The official source mentioned that the police has already confirmed that the observation of the 32nd Raising Day of the RPF is titled as Irabot Day celebration using local Meira Paibis, local over ground workers and other frontal organizations of the RPF/PLA. Besides, the police were also able to identify some of the leaders of the Meira Paibis who had contacted the arrested woman cadre. They were identified as RK Landhoni, Ima Memcha, Ima Renu, Ima Kumu of Porei Ita, Ima Mema of Khwai Bazar, and Ima Kunjarani.

It was also further learned by the police that the arrested woman secretary had submitted estimates for giving money to some of the NGOs and social organisations including SLUCO (Singjamei Lilong Area) amounting to Rs. 1,35,000, AFCO (Sagolband to Malom) amounting to Rs. 1,04,000,  RUCO (Lamshang area), amounting to Rs. 57,400, YUDCO (Sekmaijin-Uchiwa area) amounting to Rs. 22,800, and AMALCO (Wangoi to Mayang Imphal area) amounting to Rs. 56,000. Further, the police has also learned from her that the RPF had sanctioned an amount of Rs. 2,97,000 for the purpose and the above mentioned amount had been provided by Lt. RK Rina, through one of her assistants S/S MC No 163 Leiutenant Kanon.

The police source further mentioned that the arrested cadre disclosed to the police that the Meira Paibis mentioned above are also involved in collecting information on non-locals in the greater Imphal areas and the same was submitted to Lt. Tombi with a view to eliminate or intimidate the non-Manipuris. On her disclosures some relevant documents of RPF were recovered from the house of Laishram Babumacha Singh.

Further the arrested woman cadre also disclosed to the police the email ID (cactus210@gmail.com) used by her wherein many incriminating documents which were communicated to her from her party cadres including General Secretary of the RPF/PLA, Gune were found, the official source added.

A criminal case has been registered and the matter is being investigated into by the Imphal police station, the source added.

In the meantime, Imphal West district police commandos arrested a Meira Paibi leader and unveiled the relationship between the RPF/PLA and some leaders of the civil society organisations.

The CDO team arrested one leader of the Ema Leimarol Apunba Lup based at Churachandpur.

The arrested Meira Paibi has been identified as Sanasam ongbi Muktaleima Devi, 34, wife of Sobhamenon of Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai presently residing at Churachandpur Dephailen.

Muktaleima was arrested at northern gate of Johnstone higher secondary school on September 21 evening.
On 9mm pitol along with the magazine was recovered from her possession, but there were no live ammunitions, a police officer informed media today at the CDO complex, Minuthong.
Muktaleima was paraded before media today at CDO complex.

Briefing mediaperson, a police officer said arrested woman is general secretary of Ima Leimarol Apunba Lup, Churachandpur and she has been acquinting with one Loya of RPF/PLA for the past three years.
The police also said Muktaleima establish contacts with different meira paibis for organizing the 32 raising day celebration of PLA/RPF on September 25.

The 9 mm pistol recovered from her possession was to be handed over to Loya for commission of prejudicial activities in the state, the police officer said.
