Rahul stops convoy for tea at roadside stall

IMPHAL, December 10: AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi surprised everyone during his short visit to the state by stopping for some snacks at a small time tea stall on his way back to the airport.

Much to the astonishment of the tea stall owner, Rahul Gandhi stopped by along with MPCC president Gaikhangam and state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and ordered for available indigenous snacks.

Rahul Gandhi’s vehicle had passed the Hotel Miranda at Sangaiprou, Tiddim road but reared backwards and much to the astonishment of the hotel owner, the AICC general secretary and scion of the Gandhi family sat at one of the hotel’s table under the makeshift shades and ordered any indigenous snacks along with tea.

The state Chief Minister and the MPCC president who were following behind had to follow suit and sit with the AICC general secretary.

The leaders enjoyed pakoras, Kangla Bujia, local bakery baked breads and tea. The AICC general secretary also tasted some Moreh dry fruits.

Rahul Gandhi also took some pictures of himself and some students who were present at the hotel at the time. He also asked the owner Lourembam Doleshwar.

Rahul Gandhi and his team stayed for about 15 minutes at the hotel.

The total charge for the items served to the high profile guests was for Rs 70.
