IMPHAL, January 7: The All Manipuri Nupi Marup organized its 73rd Foundation day at Press Club today which was attended by representatives of various civil society groups.
Speaking at the function, M Shakhi Devi Vice President of the All Manipuri Nupi Marup said that it was important for the Act for 33% reservation of seats for women in Parliament and the State Assembly be passed. She added that fast track courts should be set up in every district head quarter to hear and try cases regarding crimes against women and that concrete efforts should be taken nationally to make it compulsory to study about human rights and gender justice.
Saying that crime against women is increasing rapidly in Manipur, Shakhi said that the women of state has participated in every major issue of Manipur.
