IMPHAL, January 9: The Film Forum Manipur, Manipur Shumang Leela Council and the Apunba Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup along with other CSOs of the state will be continuing with their agitation on the Chandel molestation case.
Announcing the decision of the organizations today during a press conference at MSSLC, Palace Compound here, AMUCO president, KT Rehman said representatives of the organizations met with the state Chief Minister today at the latter’s office however failed to come to any amicable solution regarding the demands made by the organizations. It may be mentioned that the organizations have been demanding the arrest of the main accused Livingstone in the Momoko incident on December 18 at Chandel during a musical concert.
He continued that on December 31, 2012 the organizations had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding Livingstone’s arrest, and evacuation of all NSCN-IM camps from Manipur within a week’s time which had ended yesterday. He continued that it is very unfortunate that the state government has failed to meet any of the demands of the memorandum. “As such the joint body has decided to continue with its agitation further,” he said adding that regarding the recent news reports regarding the NSCN (IM)-Government of India solution before the general elections in Nagaland, the joint body has also decided to intensify the agitations incase the solution turns out to threaten the integrity boundary of Manipur.
He further added that the state Chief Minister will be meeting the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde soon. He said that the CM has assured to find an amicable solution during his meeting with the Union Minister.
The joint body will be convening a public meeting in the next 2/3 days on the issue and chalk out its course of action, he said. The press meet was also attended by L Surjakanta Sharma, Chairman MFF; S Hemanta, General Secretary MSSLC; B Netachandra Sharma, General Secretary of AMMIK and others.
