IMPHAL, January 27: The Meetei National Front, MNF Kangleipak today called a press conference at the Manipur State Shumang Lila Council office at Iboyaima Shanglen announcing that the formation of an International Observation Committee on Puya Meithaba (ICOP)-Puya Meithaba Ningsing Thousil Lup.
Speaking to media persons, spokesperson N Tomba said that the newly formed committee will organized the 284th anniversary of the burning of the Puya on February 4 in collaboration with the Manipur State Shumang Lila Council and All Manipur Recognised Pvt School Welfare Association.
He said the day will be observed at different locations, including inside the Kangla and Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shanglen.
A painting competition for students upto Class VIII will also be organized at the Jiribam Hr Secondary School under the theme “Puya Mei Thaba”, he said.
The Canada Manipuri Association will also be observing the day at Canada, he said.
A poster campaign was also launched today.
