IMPHAL, Feb 10: Funds for all development works in the hill districts of the state should be deposited with the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation, said Tribal Youth Council Manipur spokesperson, Luikang Maram during a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today.

Elaborating further he said, according to the Hill Areas Act, 371 C under the Indian Constitution, all development works in the hill areas should be handed over to a development committee or corporation in the hill areas. However for the past around 20 years, the government has never handed any developmental works to the MTDC, he said.

Memorandums have been submitted to the state Governor and Chief Minister and in reply in 2009, the Governor has issued a written order stating that all such development works should be deposited with the MTDC.

Further alleging that the Manipur Development Society does not maintain quality in its projects, it has demanded that construction of all sports complex in hill districts be handed over to the MTDC.

He said the body will further submit a memorandum to the government on the issue.
