IMPHAL, February 13: A press statement of the All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur has said that the Interim Body of the All Tribal Students` Union Manipur (ATSUM) was set up after a joint meeting of senior and former tribal student leaders including its founding members on November 13, 2012 primarily to look into the matters of the present imbroglio of the union”.
The statement went on to add that role and importance of ATSUM for the tribal peoples of Manipur need no further elaboration and reiteration and that is the main reason for forming this temporary body. “We would also like to once again remind one and all that this Interim Body is set up for a specific purpose and has no interest to take over the organization”, it said.
Saying that the role, involvement and importance of ANSAM and KSO in the formation of ATSUM cannot also be ignored and set aside,
it further appealed to the concerned federating units of the so called `ATSUM` to restraint from using the name of the union with immediate effect, until it is properly revived.
