IMPHAL, February 21: The Kuki Chief’s Association (KCA), Chandel has resolved to intervene in the execution of works being undertaken under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in Chandel district by obtaining a copy of the Detail Measurement Estimates/DPR before the execution of work.
In a press conference held at the premises of the H Kotlenphai Primary School at Tengnoupal Block, Chandel district today, N Sontah General Secretary, KCA said any developmental program including PMGSY should be executed with mutual cooperation between the concerned authority and the local people.
In case the detailed measurement estimates are not issued prior to the execution of works any contractor/work agency will be barred from entering the work site for work execution. They should not expect to enter even if their tender is passed, he added.
He then said that the nature of work execution in Chandel district under PMGSY since its implementation with regard to quality control, criteria fulfilment as per works specification had been far from satisfactory even after releasing the entire volume of funds.
Any developmental work, specially the PMGSY in hill areas has not been up to the mark and contractors who are recognized by the people of the area and who will do their jobs sincerely will only be allowed to do the said work, he continued.
“Will the quality of work be maintained when only 50% work is done?
Will the development of only valley districts be called the development of Manipur?” Sontah asked.
He then requested the concerned authority to issue Detail Measurement Estimates at an early date for smooth and successful implementation of PMGSY programme in Chandel district in the interest of the general public.
