IMPHAL, March 1: The Custom Preventive Force, Moreh seized apmphetamine tablets, popularly called WY tablets worth Rs 18 lakhs which was smuggled from Myanmar into Moreh, after it was manufactured from tablets containing high rate of ephedrine smuggled from India.
Acting on the reliable information that drugs would be smuggled from Myanmar into Moreh, Custom Preventive Force led by RK Dorendrajit Singh, Superintendent yesterday conducted frisking at Moreh ward no. 6 area, namely Nepali Basti.
When the security personnel frisked a Myanmarese at around 2.30 pm, WY Tablets were found hidden inside a packet of pulses (Rajma) weighing around 5 kg in a plastic bag.
The Myanmarese is identified as one Wye Aung (31) son of (L) U Tin Aung from Auching,Tamu post his interrogation by Custom Preventive Force at the Moreh office.
About 1750 W.Y. tablets were found inside the carry bag which is expected to fetch around 18 lakhs in the international market, as per Rk Dorendrajit, Superintendent of customs at Moreh. The arrested individual has been transported to Imphal by Moreh Police.
