IMPHAL, March 1:  The Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) in a statement by its publicity secretary Roben Khuman alleged that that security forces have been targeting the populace by utilizing various means.

The statement recounted that the ambush carried out on the troops of 1/11 GR in between S Kotlen and Torbung Bangla of Churachandpur district on February 26 was taken up by PLA soldiers. In the aftermath of the ambush, the villagers of the area were threatened by the security forces to divulge the operations of the PLA and the members involved. This is a crime committed against the innocent villagers as they have no knowledge of the workings of the armed group. It is a fact that there will be collateral damage inflicted on the public in the independence struggle yet the PLA/RPF takes utmost caution to avoid harming the public while carrying out the military activities of the secessionist war waged on the Indian nation, it said.

But, in the opposite, the armed military forces enjoys tremendous clout in oppressing the public in the name of counter insurgency operations and multiple crimes are carried out, it maintained.

It is clear that the outfit is supported by the public, and it is known that any struggle will not be successful without the aid of the public. The RPF appeals the public to further aid its endeavors in the struggle for independence, it concluded.
