IMPHAL, March 19: The International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) have revoked the ban on the sale and purchase of Valley Strong Cement manufactured by the Barak Valley Cement Ltd after an understanding was brought with the officials of the manufacturing company.
Informing this in a press meet today, E Johnson, President IPSA said following a report that there was sub standard quality of the Valley Strong brand cement came in, IPSA seized around 520 bags of the cement from a shop at Porompat from where the said cement was bought. With the aid of the Consumer Club, a sample of the cement was sent to the Manipur Institute of Technology for an adulteration test.
The cement test was done from the company’s side which furnished the India Government standard documents for the cement. IPSA found that the cement in question was brought by the Porompat shopkeeper from RP Traders at Silchar which is issued only for Assam. There is a suspicion that there is an adulteration in the cement, he added.
During the occasion, Mukesh Aggarwal, Group Vice President of Barak Valley Cement Ltd said if there is adulteration done then the supply of cement to Bishnu Roy, Proprietor of RP Traders will be immediately stopped and his distributor permit will be seized. The cement for Manipur will be made of different colored bags and inscribed with “Only for Manipur” in a month’s time, he said.
“Our cement is widely used in many types of constructions and nowhere any complaints have received. If anything wrong has been done by our distributor of Assam action will be taken. People are urged to purchase cement only from authorized dealers,” he added.
