IMPHAL, April 12: The dead body of Ningombam Satyabhama, a Junior Research Fellow of a BDT project at the Department of Pathology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)was taken back by the JAC and family members today noon from JNIMS morgue where her dead body has been lying since April 3.
The dead body of Satyabhama also known as Penao, daughter of Ningombam Tomba of Kakwa Selungbam Leirak, Bo Lampak was found in a partly decomposed state at Bashikhong Wangkhei Loumanbi Loukon..
It may be mentioned the JAC formed against the killing of N Satyabhama had imposed an indefinite state bandh from the early morning of April 4, demanding the arrest of the person (s) involved in the killing.
On April 9, JAC members along with angry residents of Kakwa area also dismantled the house of the three accused in the murder.
The last rites of Ningombam Satybhama Devi were later performed today evening at around 6 pm. Irilbung police station had notified that if her body was not claimed within 2 pm of today, then her corpse would be disposed off as per the law.
This was notified by the Singjamei police personnel to the JAC and the family members of Satyabhama.
A meeting was held today in this regard which was convened by the JAC where it was resolved that even if the body is claimed , the agitations will be pursued further to demand justice.
According to a JAC official, the JAC will still protest and carry on with agitations until and unless the culprits are booked and punished as per the law.The official also mentioned for the post mortem report to be made available at the earliest.
It also mentioned that the cases registered under the Indian Penal Code to the arrested as per the statement of the DGP, Y Joykumar has to be effective and has urged for necessary sections of the law to be charged against the arrested to make the case watertight.
The official further commented whether Satybhama had been raped and to make available the report of the post mortem to scrutinize the actual facts of the case matter.
IFP sources have said that the post mortem of the deceased state that the deceased was not pregnant when she was murdered.
It may be mentioned that the accused persons in the murder case will be produced before the court of the JMIC, Imphal East on April 15.
