IMPHAL, April 24: May Day is set to be observed by the Marxism Learning Centre in collaboration with other frontal organizations and other autonomous bodies of the state at THAU ground and launch a monthly Journal on the day. This was announced by S Shyamsunder President Irobot Research and commemoration committee in a press conference held at the office of the Marxism Learning centre at RIMS road today.
S Shyamsunder, who is also the Secretary of CPI Marxist Lenin and a member of the Central committee reminded that 1st May is being observed as Workers days worldwide from the past many years following an incident at Chicago in the year 1886 in which many workers were dead when they stage a protest for their rights.
He further said that the upcoming May Day will be marked by the centre along with the collaboration of the state, including the All Manipur Peasant Union, State League Manipur, All Manipur Democratic Women Forum, Unified People Struggle Committee, All Manipur Interlocution Forum; all Manipur Ricksaw Drivers and Pullers Association and All Manipur Interstate Transporter Association at THAU ground at Thangmeiband. He also said that a friendly football match will be played between the Ricksaw drivers and Transporter`s Association on the day besides releasing a monthly Journal Angangba thawai michak, (the red star) by N Binoy President of Senior Citizen Manipur.
Shyamsunder also said that the draconian law AFSPA which is being imposed in 9 states of the country including the Northeast in the name of armed conflict will not help to soort out the problem of the arms conflict in the state. “The only means to bring a solution to the arms conflict in the state will be when the Central government repeals AFSPA from the state,” he said.
Speaking to the media, Ch Gopalmacha President of the Manipur Interlocution Forum said that 1st May has been observed as a Workers days by the Trade Union and Workers Union and with the new vision of the present condition of new companies and establishing private farms where many people are engages as workers of the state, there are contradictions between the owners of the private farms and workers.
