Diabetes free health camp held

    IMPHAL, May 23: Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Glaxo Smithkline Pharmaceuticals Ltd, National Alliance for Elder’s People Livelihood, and Research Advocacy and Chronic Diseases of India  jointly organized a one day diabetes free health camp cum interaction program at JNIMS Lecture Hall 2 today.

    Speaking at the occasion, Prof W Gopimohon Singh, Medical Superintendent JNIMS said the camp was inclusive not only of diabetes detection and creating awareness but also the treatment of elderly people.

    Diabetes affects almost every system of the body except hair. When the body’s defence system is undermined or immune system is low the person has high chance to develop diabetes, he said.

    RK Nayansana Devi, Chairperson NAEPLRACDI and Cheif Editor of North East Elderly Women (NEEW); Prof Y Iboton Singh, Department of Medicine JNIMS; Dr K Shantibala Devi, Vice Chairperson and Scientific Chief Patron NAEPLRACDI; and Dipankar Bhattacharya, Medical Communication Executive Glaxo Smithkline Pharmaceuticals Ltd were the other dignitaries present at the occasion.
