IMPHAL, June 13: A woman sustained injuries after she was reportedly shot at by her neighbor with his licensed double barrel gun at Heiyangthang Tarahei Konjin Chinga Awang Leikai in Imphal West district yesterday at around 7:30 am.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, the woman’s husband Yumkhaibam Mujabir of Heiyangthang Tarahei Konjin Chinga Awang Leikai, a Tata Winger driver of Imphal-Dimapur route by profession said that the incident happened while he was away from home for work.
His wife told him that a goat belonging to his neighbor Moinam Majar (60), entered inside his compound on which his son Roket tried to capture the goat but in the meantime his neighbor Moinam Majar allegedly came and started shooting.
His wife Thoibi (35), who was at the courtyard of his house at the time got hit by a stray bullet leaving her with a minor injury near her right eyebrow and was taken to Wangoi Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
He further said that Police arrested Moinam Majar (60), yesterday itself following a complaint by his family members. However, his two sons who were allegedly accompanying their father holding a sword and sharp weapons were not arrested while the gun was not seized by the police, he said while demanding arrest of the two and seizure of the gun used in the firing incident.
