IMPHAL, June 17: Konthoujam MLA K Sharat Singh while moving a Calling Attention Motion during today’s sitting of the ongoing full budget session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly has asked if the Manipur State Road Transport Corporation complex at Dimapur already revoked by the state government could be turned into a Guest House for the state.
Drawing the attention of the state Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, the MLA said that there was an incident of the burning of the quarters of the MSRTC complex at Dimapur, wherein four quarters were razed down to the ground. He further demanded to know what action the state government had taken as assistance for the affected people.
In reply to the Calling Attention Motion, state Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh said the fire incident occurred around 1:15 am of June 5 during which, four quarters Qr No 6, 7, 8 and 9 were burnt down.
Following the incident, an official team led by a Deputy Director has started an inquiry, the Minister said.
He continued that it is learnt that in 2011, the Nagaland Government had allotted the land to seven individuals, which was however cancelled after the state Chief Minister talked about the issue with the Nagaland Government.However, there is a pending case filed by an individual identified as K Rosho with the Dimapur Civil Judge, he added and said the state government has also hired an Advocate for the case.
The Minister further said that the affected individuals were all encroachers and the state government has as of now not taken any resolution to provide assistance to them.
