“All arrests in DK Mosilfa case based on evidences”: Thoubal Police

IMPHAL, July 20: A press note of the Thoubal Police has said that the investigation of the death of DK Mosilfa is progressing in the right way and that all arrests  so far are being made on the basis of evidences.

It said, “Suffice it to say, the investigation is in an advanced stage and the main culprit will be brought to justice at the earliest”.

Meanwhile regarding the death of Md Neiyumuddin on July 18 at around 8:30pm, the statement has said that information was received to the effect that Sora and T. Minou villagers were involved in fighting, holding deadly weapons, including licensed gun etc, and that sounds of gun fire was heard at T Minou village side.

“Accordingly, police team led by Inspector Y Joykumar Singh, OC, Kakching PS and teams of CDO rushed to the direction”, it said and added that however, on arrival at Kakching Lamkhai, the OC, Kakching PS encountered a violent mob of Sora villagers coming in three 407 Tata Mini Trucks accompanied by other 9/1 0 motor cycle/ bikes armed with fire arms, daos, iron rods, barrel guns etc. which were coming down from T Minou village side by firing many rounds.

“At the same time, another round of firing were also heard from Khangsim village side (near Kakching Lamkhai). Both sides continued their firing and the violent mob fired upon the police team”, the statement said. Due to the firing of the miscreants, some vehicles of police were damaged and police personnel sustained injuries, the SP’s statement claimed.

A Ghanashyam arrived at the site around 10 pm of the day, hence the involvement of A Ghanashyam, SDPO, Kakching does not arise as he was not at the site of the incident at the time of occurrence, the statement said.

Further continuing on, it said that the police also fired some rounds in the air shouting that they are the police in a bid to control the situation.

“The mob was ultimately dispersed. Later on after the miscreants left the place,  some people with bullet injury were reported. However, the deceased who was found somewhere near petrol pump i.e. S. Mani filling Station of Kakching Lamkhai which serious head injury”, it said and added that the victim was evacuated to Jeevan hospital, Kakching for treatment immediately by the OC-Kakching Police team for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Maring Students’ Union, MSU has in a press statement dismissed reports that a gun fight had occurred between Sora villagers and T Minou villagers and termed them as malicious and false.

The statement asked, “How can a large number of men armed with weapons go to Minou village at night to compromise on the issue of killing of Dk James?

The statement has also alleged that the incident occurred when a large number of villagers of Sora, armed with weapons went towards Minou village in some trucks, vans and other light vehicles through Khangshim village near Kakching Lamkhai at around 8 pm.

But people returned after reaching halfway for reasons best known to them, the statement alleged and continued that on their way back, they had an encounter with the police and AR personnel who had reached Kakching Lamkhai by then.

Gun shots were heard and the body of the boy was recovered from near the petrol pump at Kakching Lamkhai, it alleged.

Two bike borne youths of Langol village who were coming from Pallel were beaten up at a place in between Minou and Kakching Lamkhai before their encounter with the security personnel, it further alleged.

The MSU’s press statement appealed to both the villagers of Sora and Minou to refrain from making provocative and inflamatory statements and actions. At the same time, the student body urged the government to book all the culprits involved in the killing of DK James of Minou on July 3, 2013 and punish them according to the law.
