Will not join any common political forum: Trinamool Congress

IMPHAL, Aug 3: The Manipur Pradesh Trimanool Congress Committee today said in a press release that it is not ready to join the common political forum which was constituted by non Congress political parties in the state so that a common candidate for the coming Lok Shabha Election could be selected from amongst the constituting political parties.

The press release further said that Trinamool Congress, which is distancing itself from all political parties in Manipur, is planning to field its own candidate for both seats of the Manipur Outer and Inner Constituencies.

However, with which political party it will tie up for the Lok Shabha Election will be announced later on after getting instruction from the high command, it said.

In the mean time, a team of the Manipur Pradesh Trimanool Congress Committee headed by its president will leave Imphal for Delhi on August 6 to meet the central leaders so as to submit a memorandum on the issues prevailing in Manipur such as uncertain social condition, soaring of prices of the essential commodities, the scarcity of petroleum products and also the fertilizers, failure of the government to control market price and the problem of border fencing at Indo-Myanmar border etc., it said.

The press release further continued to charge that the silent and inactivity of the three Congress MPs in such situation is shameful, it said.
