IMPHAL, August 5: Owing to the incessant rain in the last few days, water levels of several important rivers of the State have increased to an alarming state.
It is reported that the water levels of Nambul and Nambol Rivers have already touched warning level as recorded this evening.
According to reports received from the control room of Irrigation and Flood Control Dept (IFCD), the warning level of Nambul River is 781.175 mm while the present water level of the river is recorded at 781.675 mm and the warning level of the Nambol River is recorded at 772.052 mm with its water level at present is recorded at 772.200 mm.
Water levels of other rivers which have been flowing at an alarming rate are Imphal River-784.007 mm, Lilong River-778.275 mm, Iril River-782.000 mm and Thoubal River-775.875 mm.
Whereas the rate of rainfall recorded as of this morning in different part of the State are Raj Bhavan-8.20 mm, Lamphel-9.00 mm, Kangpokpi-17.00 mm and Saikul-9.50 mm.
Even though the water levels of the rivers have been increased at considerable rate, there were no reports of caving of river pavement, overflowing of river water, water flood etc in part of the rivers.
However, if the rain continues to pour incessantly, there is a high possibility that the water levels of the rivers would increase further and create problems, the reports added.
