IMPHAL, August 7: The Manipur Judo Association organised Sub-Junior National Judo Championship 2013-14 under the aegis of Judo Federation of India at Khuman Lampak, Indore Stadium, Imphal was inaugurated today.
The Sub-Junior National Judo Championship 2013-14 is participated by more than 400 judokas and 60 officials from 22 states of the country.
During the opening ceremony “Judoka Olympian” (L) Lourembam Brojeshori Devi born on January 1, 1981 and expired on July 21, 2013 was also remembered and a two minute silence was observed in her memory.
Speaking at the function Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that (L) Judoka Olympian Lourembam Brojeshori died with the love of Judo in her heart and all judokas should follow her footsteps and bring back medals.
He further expressed his belief that India will come out on top in the field of sports and concluded by saying that he was very much pleased and happy that the championship is being organised in Manipur.
Work Minister Kh Ratankumar said that a Judo academy should be set up in Manipur and further expressed gratitude to the Judo Federation of India for organising such a championship.
