IMPHAL, August 12 (NNN): The recent Poumei Colony in Imphal incident wherein at least six houses were allegedly shattered by destroyers has drawn condemnation from the Tangkhul Naga Valley Students’ Association (TNVSA) on Monday.

TNVSA said it condemns the ‘senseless violent act’ that completely destroyed six houses belonging to different tribes at Poumei Colony under Heingang in Imphal East district on August 4. It also called upon the state Government for immediate restoration of law and order in the area and the state as well to protect private properties.

It alleged that a social organisation Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association shattered the six houses threatening the occupants to leave the place.

The Tangkhul student body said that such senseless activities meted out to the victims are highly condemnable.

TNVSA further urged the Government to give ‘protection’ to the tribal residents of Poumei Colony so that they can live there with respect and dignity.
