IMPHAL, August 12: The closing function of the three day long social service of Khwairamban Ima Keithel cum Poster Campaign and awareness program jointly organized by the Kanglei Economic, Development Organisation (KEDO) and Ima Keithel under the sponsorship of Social welfare Department Government of Manipur was held today at Ima Keithel number 3.
The closing function was attended by Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai Devi, Khangabok MLA O Landhoni Devi, Imphal Municipal Council chairperson A Nimai Sharma, DGP Y Joykumar and AMWJU president W Shyamjai as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the function, Ak Mirabai said that the three Ima Keithels in the state attracts tourist coming from other parts of the world due to its uniqueness as only women vendors run the market. It is very important to maintain the Ima Keithel neat and clean. People of the state should consider it as a duty, she said.
She said she has highlighted the matter of water shortage in the Three Ima Keithel to the Chief Minister and IMC Chairperson. The water scarcity problem will be solved within a short period of time, the Minister assured.
