MPP women`s unit demands proper border fencing

IMPHAL, August 21: Speaking to media persons about the ongoing international border fencing which has reportedly caused the state to lose a large area of land, Khuraijam Thasana Secretary of the Chanura Marup, Manipur People’s Party said, “We can donate blood, but we cannot give away an inch of land.”

The Chanura Marup, Manipur People’s Party had also declared that unless the high powered committee of the state cabinet takes up proper steps to check the loss of state’s land by the end of this month, the women’s wing along with other like-minded organizations will launch severe forms of agitations from September 1.

Speaking to media persons at the MPP office, president Chandrakala said the Chanura Marup Manipur People’s Party today submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Governor of the state.

Elaborating on the memorandum which was submitted, she said that the government has been urged to stop all international border fencing until a final settlement of the International boundary is made.

The memorandum has also demanded that the Manipur government should apprise the report of the state high powered committee at the earliest to the people of the state especially the inhabitants of the border areas spreading over 398 km affected by the border fencing, she said.
