Condolences pour in over theatre persona Birjit Ngangomba`s demise

IMPHAL, August 30: The Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA), Manipur State Council has today conveyed its utmost concern on the sudden demise of theatre director Birjit Ngangomba.

The press release further expressed that the deceased was a well-established theatre actor, director and also a Thang-ta artiste.

Late Birjit Ngangomba was a former vice president of Indian People’s Theatre Association, Manipur State Council, it said before adding that he was amongst the four artistes team representing Manipur at IPTA conference held at Bombay in 1953 during which, the Manipur team displayed Thang-ta and Khamba-Thoibi dance.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has also expressed its condolence on demise of Birjit Ngangomba.

A press release of the CPI, MSC said that a condolence meeting presided over by B Sharma was held at Irawat Bhavan today in remembrance of the director.

The CPI leader, N Mangi Singh gave an obituary reference at the meeting.

The statement said that the sudden demise of Birjit Ngangomba was a great loss in the field of theatre, film, Sumang Lila and Manipuri martial arts.

The deceased was a brother of ex MP Ngangom Mohendra, it said.

Officials and staff of Manipur Film Development Corporation Ltd. held a condolence meeting today at its office Complex in memory of theatre director Birjit Ngangom. According to a release from MFDC, the late theatre personality was a Board Director of the Corporation for two terms.

In the meeting, the members expressed a deep sorrow on his untimely demise and shared the sorrow of the bereaved family.
