LAMKA, September 13: Churachandpur SP, Mangkhogin Haokip today declared that the cadres of KCP Nongdren Khomba group involved in the September 10 VDF assault incident have been arrested by the CCpur police.
Addressing a press conference at his office today, the police officer said that the CCpur police arrested six cadres of the KCP (Nongdren Khomba) group. They included the `Commander in Cheif` the outfit, Ningthoujan Romen alias Nongdren (32), son of N Ibotomba Singh of Kumbi Chingel Leikai; s/s private Wahengbam Thoi alias Joy (27), son of (L) Thaba Singh of Yabagei Bura bazar; s/s private, L Gulsan Singh alias Becky (28) son of (L) Rajen Singh of K Laisram Leikai; s/s private Salam Santi Singh alias Sound, 36 son of S Salam Mela Singh of T Awang Leikai; s/s private Heisnam Sobha Singh alias Chaoba (32), son of H Ibocha Singh of Thanga Leisham Leikai and s/s corporal Saiphon Ogen Singh alias Kyamba (25), son of S Kerani Singh of Takhel Makha Leikai.
Continuing the press conference held at 5:30 pm today, the district police head said that since the warrants of the six were bailable, all the six were subsequently let out on bail with the assurance that they would have to appear before the police if and when required by the police.
Elaborating further, the SP further said that the `Commander in Chief` of the militant outfit had submitted a written apology regarding the incident. However, the SP declined to accept the apology and asked them to surrender following which, the six were arrested.
The militant outfit had on September 9 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government at the Banquet Hall, 1st MR and the next day reportedly assaulted VDF personnel posted at the CCpur District Hospital.
