IMPHAL, September 21: A team of the All Manipur Students’ Union head quarter volunteers led by its publicity secretary S Shahjahan Shah today conducted an inspection of the government aided Kakching Khunou college, Kakching Khunou.
The AMSU team accompanied by media persons inspected the lack of infrastructure and complaints of the teachers and students during the visit.
Following the inspection, the student leaders appealed to the government to treat both aided and government colleges equally.
Due to the unavailability of class room for the Class XI Science in the college which has more than 2000 students, students were seen taking their classes at the College Students Union, hall.
It was also witnessed that the construction of the girls’ hostel under grants from the UGC was yet to be completed even after four years, while work on the swimming pool had been stopped after starting on some portion.
A student said in the present condition of the college, bringing quality education would be impossible.
Students from poor families from Wabagai to Serou study in this college, he said. A teacher of the college said students from four zillas come to study in the college.
Of the 131 teachers in the college only 33 are approved, which has caused problems in maintenance, the teacher said.
