IMPHAL, September 21: Demanding the arrest of Major D Sree Ramkumar of 39 AR, who is said to be the main accused in the infamous case of the alleged murder of Yengkhom Krishnadas, residents of Kakching Sumak Leikai staged a sit in protest today.
The sit in protest was organized by the Yengkhom Krishnadas Singh Ningsing Lup at the Naohallai Lampak, Kakching Bazar wherein a large number of people from Kakching and representatives of various CSOs of the state came to support.
The demonstrators also resolved to take up a string of intense agitations if the state government fail to issue warrant against the accused and arrest him at the earliest.
Taking part in the protest, Krishnadas’s wife Bimola Devi said in the last four years various CSOs of the state along with the Krishnadas Ningsing Lup have been urging the government to nab the culprit(s) involved in the killing of Krishnadas.
She further said police had managed to arrest one of the accused, namely Islamuddin from Lilong in February 2013 and according to him, it came to light that the killing of Krishnadas was pre-planned by some influential persons noting that another accused in the case identified as Md Amir Ahmed of Lilong Sambrumakhong was also arrested in August this year where he revealed that Major Sree Ramkumar of 39 AR was the main accused in the case and that he was also involved in collecting the ransom money.
The demonstrators also lauded the IO of the case DSP Imphal West District Police Commando, S Ibomcha for his sincere investigation into the case and arresting several persons accused in the killing case and further resolved to submit a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur, Chief Minister and Home Minister urging arrest of all the accused persons involved in the murder case.
The sit-in protest was also attended by representatives of KWA, WACAK, Kabui Mother Association, IPSA, All Manipur Nupi Lup Kakching Area, Poirei Leimarol, COHR, Tammi Chingmi, AMKIL, KIL, NIPCO, Mapi Council, MIKHOL and Nupi Samaj.
