IMPHAL, September 26: The Co-ordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur today in press release said that 12 point charter of demands for the workers of Manipur was submitted to the Governor of Manipur. The 12 points demands mentioned in a memorandum calls for minimum wage not less than Rs 10,000 per month, universal social security cover for all workers, assured pension for the entire working population, same wage and benefits for contract workers as regular workers, strict implementation of labour law, concrete measures to contain price rise, concrete measures for employment generation, stoppage of disinvestment in Central and State PUSs and Undertakings, remove all ceiling on payment and eligibility of bonus/provident fund, compulsory registration of trade unions within a period of 45 days and immediate ratification of the ILO convention Nos 87 and 98, permanent highway protection force on the National Highways in Manipur to protect vehicles and completion of National Highway No 37 construction within the shortest possible time.
It is also mentioned in the memorandum to instruct BRO (BRTF) to complete construction of Roads and Bridges on NH No 37 or engage Military Engineering Services (MES) under the Ministry of Defence for the completion of the highway.
