URF organizes blood donation to mark 117th Birth Anniversary of Hijam Irabot

IMPHAL, September 30: Around 70 cadres of four different militant outfits, all signatories of peace agreements with the state and central governments donated blood today during a blood donation camp in commemoration of the 117 Hijam Irabot Birth Anniversary.

The function was held at Spinning Mill Loitang Khunou organised by the United Revolutionary Front (URF) one of the outfits.

During the function, an album of patriotic songs penned by URF chairman, Kh Gopendro alias Lalheiba was also released.

Speaking at the 117 Birth Anniversary function, URF chairman Lalheiba said that the leaders and cadres of the URF have also donated blood earlier and that the occasion today is the second time after the signing of the peace agreement.

Today’s blood donation was attended by leaders and cadres of four militant outfits URF, KCP (MC) Nongdren Khomba, KCP (MC) Taibanganaba and MDF who have all signed peace agreements with the state and central government he said.

In a bid to safeguard the motherland, they had taken to arms but ever since signing the peace agreements, they have come out in a democratic way to serve the motherland, he said.

He further said that after they have joined the mainstream through the peace agreements, they have approached the state and Union government to make a policy program to develop an ideal village where the cadres can work in a field and provide for themselves and learn to be self-dependent and not to depend on others.

He also thanked the state and union governments for helping them mentally and physically.

The blood donation camp was held in collaboration with the Department of Immuno Haematology and blood transfusion Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
