IMPHAL, October 14: The BJP, Chandel today organized a protest meeting cum protest rally against bad road connections and lack of medical facilities at Chandel district.
Around one thousand locals including school students, converged at the Mini Indoor Stadium and took out the protest rally from Mini Indoor Stadium, Japhou Bazar upto the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel.
The rally was organized against the negligence of the present Congress government regarding the road condition from Pallel to Chandel, and Sugnu to Chakpikarong and the poor medical facility at the Chandel District Hospital.
A memorandum was also submitted to the DC Chandel addressed to the Governor of Manipur by Professor Gangmumei Kamei, National Vice president BJP ST Morcha and co-chairman Core Committee BJP State Organisation.
Working president BJP Chandel Tongsin Willingson said that under the ruling Congress government, the 18 kilometre long road from Pallel to Chandel Christian and Molcham via Sugnu is in a deplorable and pathetic condition due to the government’s negligence since the past 10 years.
He also asked what has happened to the Prime Minister Sadak Yojana (PMSY) scheme in the district as it was launched in 2010 with the objective of having all weather road condition in all the rural areas of the country.
He further said that the doctor and the nurses of the District Hospital cannot diagnose any patient in the hospital due to lack of sufficient equipments and as such, patients of the district have to shift to Imphal for treatment.
He said as most families in the district are under the BPL, they are unable to take the patients upto Imphal.
He further said that the people of the chandel district have not able to get the benefits of many scheme properly such as the NHRM Janani Suraksha yojana (JSY) Scheme for a safe motherhood and Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSY) scheme launche to entitle for free drug, free diagnostic and diet for the delivery mother for 3 month.
Speaking at the meeting, Professor Gangmumei Kamei said that among the different district headquarters of the state, the Chandel district Head quarter is one of the worst in all aspects.
He further said that as being a part of the democratic country all of us have a right to express our minds against the negligence of the state government.
He also assured that the BJP is the only political party who is concern with the welfare and development of the people and in bringing equality and unity amongst all sections of the society.
