IMPHAL, December 30: A day before the swearing in ceremony of the new Governor, VK Duggal, a joint team of Imphal West police commandos and City Police today conducted a cordon and search operation at Governor Road this afternoon.
During the operation conducted as part of the security and preventive measures of the state police, eight individuals were detained and later handed over to the City Police Station for further verification.
The cordon and search operation was conducted along the Governor Road from Diamond Gali to Indra colour lab at around 2.15 pm under the supervision of Sarangthem Ibomcha Dy SP operation Imphal West commando.
Passerby and shoppers were called out and verified individually.
Police personnel also conducted a search of the buildings located in the area.
Meanwhile, eight persons without proper identification proofs were detained by the police personnel and handed over to the city police for further verification.
It may be mentioned that a swearing ceremony of the V K Duggal as a new Governor of the Manipur will be held tomorrow at 2.30 pm at Raj Bhavan Imphal.
