IMPHAL, October 8: Continuing in the series of bomb attacks on different individuals and institutions in the past few days, miscreants lobbed a grenade at the residence of a Pradhan of the Thinugnei Gram Panchayat, under Bishnupur police station in the morning today.
The Pradhan is identified as one Ibopishak, 64, s/o (L) Jarma of Thinugei Mamang Leikai.
According to reports the incident occurred around 7 am when armed miscreant lobbed a grenade at the residence of the Pradhan however the bomb failed to explode. Later the bomb was safely retrieved by the Bishnupur police.
Further sources said that the Pradhan received a monetary demand from the proscribed KCP (MC) militant few months back but it could not be ascertained as to who carried out the attack as no individual or organization has claim responsible for the attack.
In the meantime, the Misao Gas Agency, Chingmeirong in a statement strongly condemned the bomb attack carried out by miscreant on the evening of October 7 at the premises of the agency.
It said that the agency has been rendering its service to the people of Imphal for the past many years without any complaint. The incident has shocked the agency and the reason behind the act is unknown to them, its said.
It appealed to the concerned person or organization to clarify about the incident so that the agency can continue its service to the people peacefully.
