Relief materials for Imphal east flood victims distributed

IMPHAL, Oct 13: While claiming that the emergency relief packages for flood affected areas which was announced by the state government some days back are yet to reach at Khurai AC, Ningthoujam Bihari, ex minister of Khurai A/C has today distributed four Kgs of rice each to around 200 households in the vicinity of the JNIMS and Kongpal Khongkham Leikai affected by floods.

The distribution was made at the premise of the Amateur Athletic Association, Kongpal ground.

Meanwhile at the same venue of Amateur Athletic Association, Kongpal saw sitting MLA of Khurai ACDr Bijoy Singh came in the evening an distribute 20 quintal of rice from government buffer stock.

Speaking to media person MLA said that there is no question about the failure of essential commodity distribution by the government so far distributed goods are all from government.

While stating that it is the first time that government is distributing rice in Khurai assembly constituency, he has also added that the government will be distributing other essential commodities like salt in the near future. Meanwhile he has also added that the government is yet to decide whether to include dal in the distribution list or not.

While expressing fear over the outbreak of any health problem after the flood water had receded he has also assured of conducting a medical camp or any other necessary steps after the flood water recedes.

On the other hand W Basanta president of the Unemployment Youth Learned Assocition has today while briefing media persons at a relief camp opened by the Star Sporting Club and Unemployment Youth Learned Association at the Porompat Road has also claimed that not a single government official visited or provided help to the affected people of the area.
Furthermore he has also claimed that the two associations have been providing relief material help to around 485 household which includes 215 houshold of Porompat Thawanthaba and 270 houshold of Porompat Muslim Leikai.
While stating that the relief camp had submitted an application requesting for provision of essential commodities to the Imphal East DC through the local MLA, he has maintain that there has been no reaction from the state government side so far. 
He also added that the relief camp has been so far maintained by assistance received from individuals and groups like social workers, pradhan, Zilla parisad, ex-MLA, 12 Maratha Light Infantry, SP Imphal East police, CMO Imphal east.
