IMPHAL, Dec 26: Govindajigi Maharaj Seireng, a book by Arambam Tombinao, was released on Thursday at JNMDA.
RK Nimai, commissioner, Arts and Culture, Manipur was the chief guest while Prof N Tombi Singh, vice-chairman, JN Manipur Dance Academy presided over the event, as L Upendro Sharma, Director, JN Manipur Dance Academy was the guest of honour.
“People should be proud of our own tradition and culture as they are unique and special to us,” RK Nimai said. Lamenting the gradual decline in traditional values, he stated that values and discipline has lost not only in Manipur but also outside the state.
“Changes should be there in the society but people should properly observe traditions. Traditions should be made aware of by writing in English about them,” he added. He stressed the need for preserving our tradition by putting them in the school syllabus and for students to know the real heritages of our culture.
