IMPHAL Oct 20: Union Secretary GK Pillai after a four days visit left the State left this afternoon by a special flight from Tulihal airport. Briefing media persons at the airport, the Union secretary stated briefly that he has assessed the situation of the state and the recommendations of the development seminar held at the Hotel Classic on the 18th of the month will be made available to the public in the form of a booklet within a week’s time.
‘The recommendations of the seminar and the reports on other subjects will be discussed at the centre, we will try to implement the recommendations as feasible’, Pillai stated.
Answering a query on whether the peace talks between the Centre and the NSCN (IM) is in a stalemate, Pillai stated that there are no hitches and the peace talks are in progress, the slight delay is due to the fact that the chief interlocutor RS Pandey has gone to America and the NSCN (IM) leader Muivah is presently hospitalized due to health grounds.
Commenting on the controversial arrest of UNLF chairman RK.Sanayaima, Pillai said that he will consult the centre and confer with his Bangladesh counterparts regarding the case. ‘It has been brought to my notice through the media that the UNLF leader has been arrested in Bangladesh and I will look into the matter for the actual confirmation’, he said.
It may be mentioned that the Union Minister in his address at the development seminar held at Hotel Classic had stated that the central government has sanctioned Rs. 300 crore for the development of the Imphal Jiribam section of the NH- 53 and that the centre will intervene in speeding up the work implementation of Central sponsored schemes.
GK Pillai on his visit was accompanied by DoNER Secretary Jayati Chandra, Joint Secretary (Home) in charge of North East Sambhu Singh among other top officials.
